Medical booked: Leicester City agree to sign Vestergaard after he rejects new Southampton deal - sources
Jannick Vestergaard is set to undergo a Leicester City medical after they had a bid accepted by Southampton, Football Insider understands.
The giant centre-back has rejected the Saints’ offer of a new contract and they have decided to cash in.
An industry source has told Football Insider that Vestergaard has been granted permission to head to Leicester for a medical and to finalise personal terms.
The Foxes want him registered by lunchtime tomorrow so he can be available for their Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday.
Leicester are set to pay around £15m for Vestergaard, who is out of contract at St Mary’s next year.
He is set to become the latest high-proflie name to leave St Mary’s following the departure of Danny Ings to Aston Villa.

He joined the Villains in similar circumstances to Vestergaard’s current situation as he also had less than 12 months left on his Southampton contract.
Leicester are looking for a new centre back after an injury blow to Wesley Fofana.
The Frenchman was on the receiving end of a horror challenge during pre-season and has been ruled out until 2022.
This is a considerable blow to the Foxes after the 20-year-old’s excellent debut season.
In Vestergaard, Leicester are getting a proven Premier League operator who made 30 appearances in the competition last season.
He also scored three goals during a prolific end to 2020.
He also made six appearances for Denmark at Euro 2020 during their march to the semi-finals.
The defender joined the Saints in 2018 and has made 79 appearances for the club.
