Liverpool attacker Yan Dhanda is on the verge of exiting the club having completed a medical at Swansea, according to a report.
BBC Sport claims that Dhanda, 19, was due to be out of contract in the summer and is now closing in on signing for the Swans having failed to make a single senior appearance for the Reds.
The attacking midfielder joined Liverpool from West Brom in 2015 and had been a mainstay in the Under-23s’ Premier League 2 campaign over the last year, appearing 18 times and scoring five goals.
Football Insider verdict
Dhanda has completely failed to reach his potential at Liverpool and his decision to quit West Brom and move to Anfield in 2015 is yet another reminder to teenagers that the grass is not always greener on the other side. The Birmingham-born attacker was tipped to be the next big thing at The Hawthorns and given how players like Saido Berahino, Sam Field, Jonathan Leko and Izzy Brown have broken through into the Baggies’ first-team over the last few years, Dhanda would have also been given that opportunity. Instead he is 19-years-old and yet to make a single senior appearance. Swansea will be a good move for him but it just shows that he may as well have stayed in the Black Country as West Brom will be playing against the Welsh club in the Championship next season. It will be interesting to see if he gets first team chances in South Wales, or if he will still be stuck in Under-23s football.
