Derby County have agreed a deal for Stoke City striker Lee Gregory ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline, Football Insider understands.
Derby have been desperately searching for a new striker before the transfer window slams shut and they have turned their attentions to Gregory after missing out on several targets.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Gregory has undergone a medical at Pride Park and is set to join Wayne Rooney’s side on loan until the end of the season.
Gregory has recently recovered from a groin injury which saw him ruled out for almost two months and he is set to go straight into the Derby County side to bolster their attacking options.
The 32-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at Stoke, making just three starts for Michael O’Neil’s side this season.
Stoke chief O’Neill is happy to let Gregory leave as he is unlikely to break into his plans for the second half of the season.
Gregory joined the Potters in June 2019 following a five-year spell with Millwall.
He has made 172 appearances in the division, scoring 37 goals and registering 17 assists.
Derby are expected to be one of the busiest sides on deadline day.
