AC Milan star Diego Laxalt is undergoing a medical in London as he puts the finishing touches to joining Celtic, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Scottish giants have agreed the terms of a loan move with Milan for the 27-year-old Uruguay international.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Laxalt is doing medical tests in London ahead of boarding a flight to Glasgow this afternoon.

The left-back will then put pen to paper on a Celtic.

The landmark deal will bring an end to the Scottish giants’ window-long search for a left-sided defender.

Laxalt will come with considerable pedigree.

In addition to 24 senior Uruguay caps, he has extensive experience in Serie A gathered from a lengthy spell at Genoa as well as from Milan, Torino, Bologna and Empoli.

He has been on the sub’s bench for all six of Milan’s competitive fixtures this season, including Sunday’s 3-0 win over Spezia Calcio.
