Everton are close to making Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl their first summer signing, Football Insider understands.
The Terriers announced on Friday evening that the Denmark international is leaving the John Smith’s Stadium as he enters the final weeks of his contract.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club have moved quickly to land Lossl, 30, and he is ready to accept their contract offer and undergo a medical to complete a transfer.
The Merseysiders’ recruitment team, led by director of football Marcel Brands, and manager Marco Silva have identified the signing of a back-up goalkeeper as a priority this summer.
Jordan Pickford is the undisputed number one at Goodison Park but his deputy Maarten Stekelenburg could leave the club this summer with one year left on his contract.

Everton have no plans to demote Pickford or cash in on him following what has been a mixed campaign following his excellent World Cup for England last summer.
Lossl, who joined Huddersfield from German club Mainz in the summer of 2017, has made 72 appearances in England, 69 of which have come in the Premier League.
He has previously also played for Guingamp and FC Midtjylland in his native Denmark.
