Tottenham are on the verge of sealing to signing of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lucas Moura as he has arrived in London to undergo a medical today (Tuesday), according to a report.
Goal claims that Spurs have won the race for Lucas, 25, and he is now likely to become Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing of the January transfer window after PSG boss Unai Emery gave the go ahead for the Brazil international to leave the Stade des Princes.
It is understood that Lucas has been linked with other Premier League sides including Manchester United and Arsenal, but now he is edging close to a last-gasp move to Wembley in a deal said to be worth £25million.
With the transfer deadline now just over 24 hours away, Pochettino is yet to seal the signing of anyone in what has been a very quiet month at Tottenham.
However, like in the summer, it appears that business will be done in the eleventh hour of the window as Lucas looks to join up with the Spurs squad.
Football Insider verdict
Lucas will be a good signing for Tottenham but it seems pretty hard to see how he will fit into Pochettino’s usual plans. The Brazilian is much more of a wide player, but when he has all of his centre-backs fit, Pochettino likes to play three at the back and use wing-backs to supply width in his team. From time-to-time, Spurs do play with wingers, but it is not very often and only seems to be that way when defensive options are limited. Tottenham still have the issue of having such a good first-team that it’s very hard to improve. Their lack of strength in depth was an issue that was raised as they pushed for the title last season and Lucas’ arrival will definitely go some way in solving that issue.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have been tipped to sign this £110,000-a-week playmaker after a bid worth £35million was tabled.
