Medical today: Aston Villa reach agreement on £53m Digne deal - sources
Everton defender Lucas Digne has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa and will undergo a medical on Wednesday (12 January), Football Insider understands.
This site revealed on Monday that Villa had agreed a fee of an initial £22million for the left-back, 28, that will be topped up by £3million of add-ons.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Digne has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract worth around £120,000-a-week.
It will match his Everton wages and take the total outlay of the deal to a potential £53million including fee and salary.
Villa are set to announce Digne as their second major January signing this week following the loan-to-buy capture of Philippe Coutinho last Friday (7 January).
The Brazilian attacker was Steven Gerrard’s first signing as Villa boss and was officially unveiled yesterday (11 January).

Digne will bolster Gerrard’s defensive options with Matt Targett currently the first-choice left-back.
Ashley Young is able to operate in the role but has been used as a midfielder by his former England teammate Gerrard.
Digne has been frozen out by Rafa Benitez at Everton and has not featured since the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at the beginning of December.
He has been replaced by Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kyiv who made his debut in the 3-2 victory over Hull City at the weekend.
Digne signed a new long-term contract with the Blues last February (2021).
The France international will end his time at Goodison Park with six goals and 20 assists in 127 appearances across all competitions.
