Georginio Wijnaldum will undergo a Barcelona medical today as he completes his free transfer from Liverpool, Football Insider has learned.

There were fears the deal could collapse amid doubts over the future of manager Ronald Koeman, who has pushed hard for his countryman to be signed.

But the cash-strapped Spanish giants have opted to push through the deal as part of a triple signing bonanza over the next week.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Wijnaldum, 30, has accepted Barcelona's three-year contract offer.

He will undergo his medical today at Holland's training base as they make their final preparations for the upcoming European Championships.

It will see Wijnaldum complete what has been "his dream transfer" since boyhood as well as formalise his exit from Liverpool, where he is contracted until the end of June.

The Dutchman has headed out of Anfield as a club legend for his role in their return to the summit of European and English football in recent seasons.

He is one of three free transfers Barcelona are in the final stages of negotiating - along with Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay.

It comes at a time when the identity of the manager next season is not cut and dried.

Koeman still has a year left on his contract at Camp Nou and president Joan Laporta confirmed publicly they are "evaluating" the head coach.

Barcelona have approached club legend Xavi about taking over even though he signed a two-year contract extension with Qatari club Al Sadd a fortnight ago.

The former midfielder is said by sources to want a contract worth £6.9million-a-year after tax to take over the club where he is adored as an all-time great.
