Jordon Ibe is undergoing a medical with Derby County as he closes in on a return to the club on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.
The 24-year-old was left without a team this summer after his contract with former side Bournemouth came to an end four years after his £15million move to Dean Court.
A source at Derby has told Football Insider that the winger is in advanced talks to sign a contract with the Rams and has already undertaken part of the necessary medical tests after nearly a year without playing competitive football.
Ibe’s last league appearance for Bournemouth came over a year ago back in August 2019 as he tumbled down the pecking order under former Cherries boss Eddie Howe.
He did feature for the south coast outfit in the League Cup in September 2019 as the then-Premier League side suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion.
Despite the extended Premier League season, he was allowed to leave Bournemouth at the end of his contract back in July and has been looking for another club since.
He looks set to return to Derby County, six years after he first joined the Rams on a half-season loan spell from Liverpool.
Ibe scored five goals and chipped in with a further assist in 24 appearances for the club before he returned to Anfield for the second half of the 2014/15 campaign.
He has a total of 31 Championship appearances under his belt to date after his spells at Derby and Birmingham City, while he has played 119 times in the Premier League.
