Michael Owen delivers his verdict on Liverpool win against Man City
By Amir Mir
Michael Owen has stated that the three points for Liverpool against Manchester City “was all that mattered” despite the game lacking quality.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat their title rivals 1-0 at Anfield on New Year’s Eve to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea to six points.
Georginio Wijnaldum’s powerful header after eight minutes sealed all three points for the home side, who will now travel to the north east to take on Sunderland on Monday afternoon.
After the game, former Reds and Manchester United striker Owen offered his thoughts on the match as posted on his personal Twitter account.
Not the game we expected but the 3pts was all that mattered. I'm off home for a party. Happy New Year everyone.
