Michael Owen believes that Liverpool will overcome Burnley in their clash on Sunday.
The Reds host Burnley in the Premier League and will be looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat in the previous meeting.
Sam Vokes and Andre Gray netted for the Clarets at Turf Moor and Jurgen Klopp’s side will not have forgotten that defeat.
Liverpool will start the game as strong favourites at Anfield and will be looking to consolidate their place inside the top four, while Burnley are sitting comfortably in mid-table.
Owen has tipped the Merseyside club to earn the three points and defeat a Burnley side that have struggled on their travels.
“Liverpool took their unbeaten record against the other top six clubs to nine when they beat Arsenal last weekend and I can’t see them making any mistakes against the Clarets despite losing the reverse fixture at Turf Moor earlier in the season,” Owen wrote in his BetVictor column. “Burnley have only picked up two points on their travels all season and I expect Liverpool to win although the Clarets may find the back of the Reds’ net.”
Liverpool will be desperate for the points against Burnley as their season now rides up a top four finish.
Klopp’s side are currently fourth in the league table, but rivals Arsenal are just two points behind them and have a game in hand.
The Reds managed to record a 3-1 victory over the Gunners in their last match, but have been extremely inconsistent so far during 2017.
Liverpool have been unable to focus on the Premier League this season without the welcomed distraction of Europe, something that has helped Chelsea rise to the top of the table.
However, the Reds have been unable to make the most of that advantage despite a good start and are in serious danger of missing out on Champions League football.
