Michael Owen believes that Tottenham will continue their fine home form against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
The north London club are currently preparing to host the south coast side to White Hart Lane for Sunday’s 2.15pm kick off.
Spurs boast a stunning home record with 38 points picked up from their 14 league matches at their iconic stadium, which sees them top the Premier League’s home table with two points more than Chelsea.
Tottenham will however be without Harry Kane through injury and while Owen noted this he did share that he expects the points to be kept in London on Sunday.
“Spurs look likely to have to do without Harry Kane following his injury against Millwall last weekend in the FA Cup,” wrote Owen in his Bet Victor column.
“It is worth noting that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have played 12 times without Kane so far this term including nine games against top-flight opposition. Spurs have only won three and scored just eight times in those nine games, which highlights just how important Kane is to Pochettino’s side.
“That said I expect Spurs to improve on their excellent home record so far this season and keep the points in the capital.”
Tottenham last met Southampton in December, running out convincing 4-1 victors at St. Mary’s.
Kane was responsible for just one of those goals on that evening with Dele Alli contributing two as well as a single Son Heung-min effort.
Spurs will be hoping the whole squad contributes once again on Sunday and while Tottenham will be without Kane, Southampton will also be missing Virgil van Dijk at the back.
Both sides have varying aspirations before the season’s finish with Spurs looking to finish within the top two of the Premier League, while the Saints will be looking to move into the top 10.
In other Tottenham news, this Spurs duo are facing fitness assessments ahead of Sunday’s meeting.
