Michael Owen predicts Tottenham v Arsenal, delivers scathing criticism of attackers

By Amir Mir

Michael Owen has backed Tottenham to beat rivals Arsenal in their crucial Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon at White Hart Lane.

The former Liverpool striker delivered scathing criticism of the Gunners attackers by stating that scoring two goals against Spurs at the weekend is “beyond them”.

This despite Arsenal scoring on 22 of their last 23 occasions when playing at the Lane and boasting one of the most feared forwards in the league in Alexis Sanchez.

Nonetheless, he believes Arene Wenger’s side will lose yet another big game on the road as both teams aim to win the bragging rights for their fans.

“Spurs bounced back from their FA Cup semi-final defeat with a vital win at Palace midweek and I think they will keep the points in the north London derby,” Owen told Bet Victor.

“Arsenal have only failed to find the back of the Spurs net once in their last 23 visits to the Lane in all competitions and I feel they will need to score at least twice to get something out of Sunday’s game. That may be beyond them.”

Over the course of the season, Arsenal have scored 64 goals during their 32 league matches, with their weekend opponents finding the back of the net on five more occasions.

The duo recorded a 1-1 draw when they met during the reverse fixture in November, with Harry Kane scoring a second-half equaliser.

Arsenal have had a lot of trouble on the road this term, losing a number of costly games which has seen the team come under increasing pressure.

They have been beaten at Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton and most recently Crystal Palace, who are fighting for survival.

Wenger’s team will now take on a side that has not suffered a single defeat on home soil during this campaign.
