Hull have agreed a fee with Watford for midfielder Adlene Guedioura, according to a report.
The Mail claim that the two Premier League clubs have agreed a £3million fee for the midfielder as a deal edges closer.
It is understood that Villa have been linked with the Watford midfielder, but he now looks set to join the relegation battle at Hull.
Villa were interested with a move for Guedioura earlier in January, but have looked elsewhere to strengthen.
The Midlands giants have already purchased Sam Johnstone, Henri Lansbury, James Bree, Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane in the window.
Guedioura will now look for regular first-team football after playing a bit-part role for Watford this season.
The central midfielder has managed just 14 appearances this campaign and completed 90 minutes on four occasions.
Football Insider verdict:
Aston Villa appear to be out of the race for Guedioura, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. They have already signed three midfielders in January and manager Steve Bruce is now well stocked with options in that department. Hourihane, Lansbury and Bjarnason should all add an extra goal threat from the centre of the park. Guedioura is clearly an experienced professional and would have been a steady signing, but Villa have rightly been more adventurous in the window as they chase promotion. The Midlands giants have proved to be solid defensively and just need to add some extra firepower to their attack, something they have done.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, they are finalising a £1million deal for a highly-rated player.
