Miguel Chaiwa: Hibernian brace for offers as Celtic join race for summer deal
Miguel Chaiwa is attracting interest from a number of clubs including Celtic and Hibernian are already bracing to receive offers, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old has impressed with his performances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season and has attracting a number of high-profile admirers.
Celtic considered a move to sign him during the January transfer window, but ultimately missed out as they were not willing to sanction any permanent deals.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Hibs could be open to his departure when the summer window opens.
The Edinburgh outfit are aware of the growing interest in the defensive midfielder and may be powerless to keep him, in a new boost to Celtic’s transfer plans.

Football Insider revealed on 11 April that Celtic could reignite their move for Chaiwa when the window opens after they put the deal on hold in January.
The Hoops’ recruitment team have been keeping a close eye on his performances, while they have also been impressed with his displays against Martin O’Neill’s side.

In Celtic’s attempts to bolster their midfield in the summer, Chaiwa has emerged among their top targets, and Hibs may face a difficult task keeping hold of him.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Chaiwa has had a really good season for Hibs, he’s just 21 as well.
“He would fit the profile for the type of player that Celtic are trying to bring in to develop, and again, he has impressed against Celtic when he has come up against them.
“Hibs are aware of the growing interest in the Zambia international.
“They know they may have to brace for offers for him, and if the right offer comes in from somebody like Celtic, it might be difficult to keep hold of him.
“They’ve got a player there in Chaiwa who obviously knows the Scottish Premiership as well, so he could come in and maybe make an instant impact if Celtic were to sign him.
“Celtic aren’t the only ones looking, though, and there could be other clubs making moves for him.”
Which other midfielders are on Celtic’s radar?
Chaiwa is not the only midfielder Celtic have been tracking ahead of the summer transfer window, with the position seen as a priority for their transfer team.
Football Insider revealed on 10 April that Celtic are interested in Alfie Devine, as O’Neill was spotted watching the Tottenham gem, who is on loan at Preston.

Concerns about the long-term futures of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Arne Engels mean new additions in the middle could be crucial.
There is a possibility Celtic could lose key players from their midfield, with the likes of Engels attracting high-profile interest from the Premier League.
The Hoops rebuffed offers for the Belgium international in January, but similar to Hibs’ stance on Chaiwa, they may struggle to keep hold of him this summer.
