Mikel Arteta will have delivered 'home truths' to two Arsenal stars after Tottenham controversy - pundit
Mikel Arteta will have delivered some “home truths” to Rob Holding and Cedric Soares after his Arsenal side were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham on Thursday night (12 May), according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender suggested Arteta’s post-match interview was actually about frustrations he felt towards his players.
The Arsenal boss, 40, told Sky Sports that the referee was to blame for his side’s defeat and he could not say what he truly felt as he would be “suspended for six months”.
Soares gave away a penalty for a push on Heung-min Son in the 22nd minute before Holding was shown a second yellow card for a foul on the same player just over 10 minutes later.
“I don’t think Arteta will be saying that in the dressing room,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I genuinely hope he isn’t saying that because you have to tell people facts from time to time.

“As I’m sure Jesse Marsch told his Leeds players some home truths about those sendings off, Arteta has to do the same with his own players.
“What you say publicly and privately is totally different at times in football. He won’t be happy with what they have done.
“His interview afterwards is probably as much about his frustrations with his players than anything else.”
Arsenal still have a one point advantage over Spurs as they sit in fourth place with two games to go.
They travel to Newcastle United on Monday (16 May) before hosting Everton on the final day.
