Mills: Celtic target Davies backed to complete move after reveal
Celtic target Ben Davies needs a move away from Liverpool, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender admitted he still cannot understand why Liverpool signed the centre-back.
The Daily Mail reported (9 July) that Celtic are back in the hunt to sign the 25-year-old.
Football Insider exclusively revealed during the winter window Liverpool had gazumped Celtic’s move for Davies.
He was close to agreeing a pre-contract deal with the Glasgow giants before the Reds swooped amid a defensive injury crisis.
However, he is still yet to make his Liverpool debut and Jurgen Klopp compared his slow progress to Andy Robertson.

The Scotland captain had a slow start to his Anfield career but has now established himself as one of the world’s best left-backs.
Asked for his assessment of Davies’ future, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he needs a move.
“Clearly, he’s not going to play at Liverpool. I’m still not sure why they bought him. It’s a little bit harsh and unfair on the player
“The player is going to want to go there and get an opportunity. But when that opportunity came along, he was completely overlooked and dismissed. that’s also hard to deal with.
“Yes, the money is OK but you want to play. You want to challenge yourself and test yourself and he’s not even been afforded that chance.”
Davies made the bench for eight Liverpool fixtures in the Premier League and Champions League last term.
The Preston academy graduate played 145 games for his boyhood club before moving to Anfield for a deal that could be worth up to £2million.
