Danny Mills has claimed Leeds United have already got their own James Milner in versatile star Stuart Dallas.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Elland Road defender named Dallas in his first choice United XI following his transformation this season.
The Northern Ireland international has spent most of his career as a winger but has been used most of this season at right-back before moving across to left-back and midfield in recent matches.
Mills explained why he is a big admirer of Dallas and his ability to shine in so many different positions, just like Liverpool superstar Milner.
Asked to name his first choice left-back, Mills snubbed Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas in favour of the club’s 28-year-old Irishman.
“I’m going to go Stuart Dallas, he can play all sorts of positions, he is like James Milner at Liverpool, you know he can play any position and he plays very very well,” Mills told Football Insider.
“But I like his energy, I think he works incredibly hard, I think he has learnt that position.
“There’s not been an out-and-out left-back that he has played consistently, so Stuart Dallas
slots in there.”
Dallas has been an ever-present at Leeds this season, starting all 19 of their Championship matches and playing the full 90 minutes in 18 of them.
United fans are clamouring for the club to re-sign their academy product Milner next summer, when his contract at Liverpool is due to expire.
