Mills digs at Levy for Tottenham 'arguing over who pays for flight' after star agrees personal terms

Danny Mills has tipped Tottenham to complete the signing of Atalanta defender Cristian Romero.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender suggested Spurs have taken so long to complete the deal because Daniel Levy has been negotiating the minutiae of the deal.

Football Insider learned back on 23 July Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Romero but a fee had yet to been agreed.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported today (August 1) the situation was “tense” between the clubs as Spurs wait for their latest bid to be accepted.

It is understood any potential deal will be worth over £40million, including add-ons.

Spurs have already signed goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a loan deal with an option to buy from Atalanta.

Asked for his assessment of the situation, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Transfer saga drawn out by Tottenham? Who would have thought? Wonders will never cease.

“I’m sure Daniel Levy is arguing about who pays his flight over, whether he travels in economy or economy-plus! This is what Tottenham do.

“He’s a shrewd business operator but I’m sure if Nuno wants him, he will try all he can to get him in.”

Nuno has already begun overhauling Tottenham”s weak defence with the sale of Toby Alderweireld.

The 32-year-old has joined Qatari club Al-Duhail after six seasons in north London.

Football Insider revealed back in May the club also plan to offload Davinson Sanchez regardless of who succeeded Jose Mourinho.

In other news, Nuno deserves all the credit after Tottenham wrap up the “deal of the summer”.
