The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims keeping the South Korean is the “signing of the summer”.
Tottenham announced last week (23 July) that the winger had penned a new four-year deal with the club.
Football Insider first revealed on 17th July the 29-year-old had agreed a new deal with the north London side.

“I’m a little bit surprised,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If he made it clear he wanted to leave, there would be some massive clubs ready to take him.
“You would have to say credit to the player, he loves it at Tottenham.
“You can see that smile whenever he plays and the fans love him as well.
“He obviously feels comfortable. Maybe he feels with the new manager he’s excited.
“Nuno has obviously said something to convince him of a new contract.
“Keeping Son is a huge coup and their best deal of the summer.”
Son played a huge role in Tottenham’s 2020-21 season, scoring 17 goals in the Premier League.
He also chipped in with 10 assists during as the north London club qualified for the Europa Conference League.
