Mills: Leeds fans will be thrilled by 'absolutely superb' announcement
Danny Mills has backed Leeds United to start the 2021-22 campaign strongly despite a difficult set of opening fixtures.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested Marcelo Bielsa’s side will raise the game with fans hopefully back in the stadiums.
The Premier League announced this week, as relayed by Leeds’ Twitter account, the fixtures for the upcoming season.
Leeds open the season with a visit to Manchester United before hosting Everton and then travelling to Burnley in August.
In September, Liverpool visit Elland Road before Leeds travel to Newcastle before finishing the month with a home game against West Ham.
“It’s not an easy start but it wasn’t a particularly easy start last season,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“What it does give you, you go into those games with no illusions. You’re not resting on your laurels in any way, shape or form. You’re going into those games going ‘Right we’re going to be at it. What a great opportunity.’
“Often you raise your game for those fixtures. It’s the so-called smaller games where you can be caught out.
“Yes, it’s a difficult start and the last thing you want after those games is three or four points on the board because people do start to look at the league table then. I don’t see that happening. I can see Leeds getting a couple of wins on the board. I don’t see it being a massive issue.
“With fans hopefully back in, it would be absolutely superb. What a game for Leeds fans to go back to, Manchester United, if away fans are allowed.”
