Mohamed Salah 'expected' to quit Liverpool in 'big-money' deal as source reveals new talks - pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Liverpool will look to receive a “big transfer fee” for one of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in order to “rejuvenate” their side.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed he is now “expecting” Salah, 29, to depart Anfield in order to raise funds during the off-season.
A Liverpool source told this site on Saturday (14 May) that Liverpool are set for new contract talks with the Egyptian over a deal that could be worth over £80million in total.
Football Insider has also revealed (17 April) the Reds’ plans to offer a new deal to Mane – who is reportedly wanted by Bayern Munich.
Both stars are out of contract at the end of next season, alongside fellow forward Roberto Firmino.
Whelan suggested a big sale could open the door for a young arrival this summer.

“They’re going to have to capitalise on somebody, in my opinion,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“That big potential transfer fee could do a lot of good. It could be Mane, or it could be Salah.
“One of the two, I believe, will be leaving this summer. For me personally, I’m expecting it to be Salah.
“Mane is looking more and more like the one who will be sticking around, but we’ll have to wait and see.
“When you’re bringing in these young players and they’re performing as well as Luis Diaz is – it does almost put the writing on the wall.
“One of them might well have to go in order to get that capital and rejuvenate that team.”
