Morelos could be forced out of Rangers this week after £13m reveal - English pundit

Kevin Phillips claims Alfredo Morelos will ask to leave Rangers if they crash out of the Champions League this week.

The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, speculated on the future of the Gers’ star man.

Rangers face Malmo at Ibrox on Tuesday after losing last week’s Champions League play-off first leg 2-1.

Steven Davis’ last-minute strike halved the deficit after two individual errors cost the Gers at the start of the second half last week.

Rangers don’t have the away goal advantage due to new UEFA rules, meaning they will have to beat the Swedish side convincingly to progress.

Morelos’ future has once again been the subject of much speculation this summer.

On 26th June, Football Insider revealed Rangers have told Porto that they want £13million for their star striker.

Phillips claims the Colombian hitman will look to move on if the Gers fail to win on Tuesday.

“It [going out of the Champions League] could have a bearing on his future,” Phillips told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs.

“I get the impression there are plenty of people at Ibrox, at the club, who want him gone.

“If they don’t make the Champions League Rangers could try to move him on.

“We’ve spoken about this so many times now.

“Morelos might think his time is up at Rangers if he has the desire to play in the Champions League.

Rangers are looking to qualify fo the Champions League group stage for the first time in a decade.

Steven Gerrard’s side will face either Olympiacos or PFC Ludogorets should they overcome Malmo.
