Sources: Rangers tell Porto what it will cost to sign Morelos this summer

Rangers have told Porto they want £13million for Alfredo Morelos, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Glasgow giants have been contacted by the Portuguese club about a potential deal for the Colombian striker.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers have let it be known that their valuation of Morelos is around the £13million mark.

It has been reported in Portugal that Porto are only willing to go as far as £10million for the front man.

He has a contract with Rangers that runs until 2023 and talks over an extension have failed to get off the ground this year.

Morelos, 25, signed his current deal back in March 2019.

As revealed by this site in October 2020, the Colombia international wanted a blockbuster pay rise after a move failed to materialise last summer.

Rangers failed to agree a transfer fee with eventual Ligue 1 winners Lille last year.

Instead, Morelos remained at Ibrox to fire Steven Gerrard’s men to the Premiership title.

He scored 14 times in 35 league appearances for the Light Blues, including his first goal against Celtic in March.

Morelos finished the campaign with 17 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

He is currently on international duty with Colombia at the Copa America.

The 25-year-old picked up his 10th cap as a substitute against Peru.

Morelos has played a total of 182 times across all competitions for Rangers, scoring 94 times and contributing 43 assists.

Steven Gerrard also has Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten, player-coach Jermain Defoe and new arrival Fashion Sakala as centre-forward options.

In other news, Rangers have made a move to sign a speed machine and £3million will seal the deal.
