Rangers have been told they can land Colombian target Santiago Moreno for £2million less than his initial valuation, Football Insider understands.

America de Cali had valued the explosive forward, 21, at around the £5m mark amid strong interest from Premier League clubs.

But a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Rangers have been in contact with the Colombian side and learned £3m would seal a summer deal.

The Light Blues have set their sights on the south America market following the introduction of new Brexit rules for European players.

But Rangers face competition from clubs south of the border for both players.

The blisteringly-quick wide man, who still has two years left on his contract with America, has been likened to Sadio Mane for his playing style.

Encouragingly for his suitors, Moreno would be granted Governing Body Endorsement (“GBE”) as he has featured in the Copa Libertadores.

Moreno has been a regular scorer and creator in 2020-21, with his 25 appearances in all competitions yielding six goals and four assists.

They include two goals in the Copa Libertadores, which is the highest level of competition in south American club football and demonstrative of the pedigree and promise of Moreno.
