Morelos will go to a new level at Rangers after what I've just heard - pundit
Noel Whelan has heralded Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plan to keep Alfredo Morelos in and around the 18-yard box at Rangers.
The former Aberdeen hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old would be thrilled what he has heard from his new manager.
As quoted by the Daily Record (26th November), Van Bronckhorst revealed he told Morelos to play “more towards the box” and to stop dropping deep into midfield against Sparta Prague.
The Colombia international scored both goals in Thursday’s 2-0 win.
Whelan suggested Morelos would be buzzing over his new instructions.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “That’s where he’s at his strongest. He’s done it for years and years and years and years at Rangers.

“When you’ve got a player like that, a bit like Harry Kane, you don’t want him outside the box.
“You don’t want him coming searching for the ball. We’ll find you, you just do your job inside that six-yard box and in the 18-yard area.
“That’s exactly what he wants to hear. As a striker, work the 18-yard box when you’re defending. Don’t come any further, be on their shoulders, be in and around that box when the balls are out wide.
“We will find you and then you do your expertise which is putting the ball in the back of the net. He did that Thursday night. A great start for Morelos under the new manager.
“They’ll have a great relationship. If Morelos keeps doing his job, he’ll just keep playing him through that 18-yard box. That’s all you want from a striker.
“You don’t need to go anywhere else. That’s why you’ve got midfield players and wide players. You need him where he does his work and that’s inside of 18-yard box.”
Morelos has now scored nine goals in 22 appearances for Rangers this season.
Four of his strikes have come in the Premiership.
