Alan Hutton has insisted Man City will sign another left-back in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and Tottenham right-back said that Nathan Ake could lose his place in the starting XI as a result.

The defender was close to returning to Chelsea last summer and was even the subject of approaches in the January window.

Ake has become a key player at the Etihad especially since the exit of Joao Cancelo in January and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer.

The Netherlands international joined City from Bournemouth in 2020 for a reported £41million and his current contract runs until 2025.

But Hutton is worried Ake could drop down the pecking order next season.

"We all knew at Bournemouth and at Chelsea how good a player he was," he told Football Insider.

Man City

"The question mark was probably is he a regular starter in a Pep team? That answer for a long time was no but he has seen an opportunity there with the likes of Zinchenko leaving and he has done really well.

"I still believe that Man City will want to bring somebody in. So does that diminish his time playing? It is solely up to him. If he puts in solid performances week-in, week out, then I would presume he would want to stay."
