Celtic fans on social media were unimpressed with the performance of Ryan Christie for Aberdeen against Rangers in a game which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The 23-year-old, who has spent the last 18 months on loan at the Pittodrie side, was involved in the game to a fair extent, but didn’t show anything which would make him hold down a place in the Hoops first-team.

Indeed, one fan claimed that he was ‘never going to make it’ with the Scottish champions, who he returns to in the summer.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Christie’s performance:

Despite what the fans say, Christie could still have a future with the Hoops as the player has claimed, as reported by the Scotsman, that the club plan to have talks with him when he returns to Glasgow in the summer.

Football Insider verdict

Christie didn’t show enough against Rangers to show that he has a real chance of making it with the Hoops. Fans would have been looking for him to turn in a dominant performance, but despite having plenty of the ball he was largely anonymous and didn’t show the sort of attitude that you expect from a player out to show that he can cut it at the highest level of Scottish football. He did look lightweight and he seems to lack the sort of ‘savvy’ that most of the Hoops midfielders have, and you couldn’t see him replacing the likes of Tom Rogic or even Stuart Armstrong in the Hoops side, and it would be best for all involved if the player moved on to pastures new in the summer, as at this moment in time it doesn’t look as if he is going to make it in the East End of Glasgow.
