Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack has said “never say never” when asked about his future at Melbourne City.
In an interview with Fox Sport, the striker currently on-loan at Melbourne City did not rule out making his move permanent when asked what the future held for him.
He said: “It’s a tough one, never say never.
“Essentially, it all depends how I do, if I start scoring goals and doing well then there will be a chance for me to stay.”
The 31-year old has become Melbourne City’s leading goalscorer for the season in his brief time at the club.
The striker has scored three goals in his five appearances in the A-League, which means he is averaging a goal every 135 minutes.
The Scottish international joined the Australian team at the end of the September, with his current loan deal set to finish at the end of the year.
McCormack did manage to feature for Aston Villa this season ahead of his move away.
While he did not play in any of the side’s Championship games, he featured in three of their League Cup fixtures, but was unable to score a goal or register an assist in any of those appearances.
The striker joined the Villans in August 2016 from Fulham, but was loaned out to Nottingham Forest in January 2017.
McCormack has made a total of 24 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring three goals and grabbing one assist.
In other Aston Villa news, this Villa midfielder has had his deal terminated.
