New Everton signing Townsend is a teetotaller 'who won't stay up past 10pm' - pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Everton have signed a rare breed of player in Andros Townsend.
The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed his former teammate was incredibly “focused and driven”, even as a teenager.
As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (July 19th), Townsend, 30, has completed a medical and signed a two-year deal at Goodison Park after leaving Crystal Palace.
Everton confirmed his capture on Tuesday afternoon.
He was available on a free transfer after his contract at Selhurst Park ran out this summer.
Hutton, who trained alongside Townsend at Tottenham, admitted the winger was unlike most other footballers.

He lauded the attacker’s “meticulous” nature and insisted joining Everton was a “good move”.
“I’ve known Andros a long time,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“He’s meticulous in everything that he does to look after himself. He always has been that way since he was a kid.
“Even then, he could have only been about 18. He was like a 36-year-old in an 18-year-old’s body.
“Andros wouldn’t stay up past 10 o’clock, he’d have to get a certain amount of hours of sleep. He would watch what he ate, he doesn’t drink alcohol, the whole works.
“Everything is really geared towards his football career. You don’t get many people like that that are that focused and driven.
“I really do think that’s a good move.”
Townsend has made 243 Premier League appearances during his spells at Palace, Newcastle and Tottenham.
He played 34 times in the top flight last term, with one goal and five assists to his name.
