Newcastle United January transfer target Nicolai Jorgensen has spoken out in light of a failed bid from the Magpies and a reported revived summer bid for the Feyenoord forward.
The North-East club were looking to bring in the 27-year-old Danish forward during the winter window in order to improve on their failure in front of goal.
But the two clubs were unable to settle on a fee for the player and in the end, their £15million was not enough to trigger a transfer.
Jorgensen’s form has dropped since the potential switch and he has managed to register just once since the Magpies interest.
It had previously been reported that Rafa Benitez will return for the player in the summer.
But as quoted in the Newcastle Chronicle, the forward revealed the disappointment following the failed bid and said: “It was a little annoying.
“It is of course a big dream for me to end up in such a league.”
Football Insider verdict:
It’s no surprise that Jorgensen was disappointed not to have made the move. The thrill and the excitement the Premier League can offer, by far surpasses anything in the Eredivisie. The 27-year-old’s dip in form is no real surprise given that he was so keen to see a move go through but he will need to react and pick up again if Benitez is going to return for the player in the summer. The Magpies issues in front of goal have been well documented and they are in need of a proven goalscorer.
