Newcastle ace tipped to dazzle if '£50m' Liverpool switch completed after update - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Newcastle United can command a high fee for Allan Saint-Maximin amid Premier League interest.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Magpies should hold out for no less than £50m for their 24-year-old prized asset.
As reported by Italian outlet Calciomercato last week (September 27th), Premier League clubs Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton will target Saint-Maximin next summer.
The mercurial winger signed for Newcastle United from OGC Nice in 2019 and signed a bumper six-year contract last summer.
As such, the Tyneside club have the upper hand in any potential fee negotiations with England’s elite clubs.
Saint-Maximin has cemented his reputation as Newcastle’s star man at the start of this term, participating in 62% of their league strikes with two goals and three assists in seven games.

Whelan claimed £50m could be enough to prise the “standout” winger from St James’ Park.
“There’s no doubt that he’s their golden ticket,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s the one player in that side who would command a high fee, and the fact he’s got a long time left on his deal will serve the club well.
“He is the one player who stands out in that poor Newcastle side, with his quality and direct running, as well as the influence he can have on games.
“You’re probably looking at around £50million for a player like Saint-Maximin.
“There’s absolutely no doubt he can succeed for clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea.”
The French midfielder has created the third-most (five) shot attempts as a result of a successful dribble – beaten only by Adama Traore and Mohamed Salah (FBref).
Saint-Maximin has netted nine goals in 64 games for Newcastle United.
