Newcastle could sign 'brilliant' Alli in January after Conte development - pundit
Frank McAvennie claims Dele Alli can revive his career by joining Newcastle in January.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the Magpies could pull off the move.
Alli, 25, is yet to play a minute of football under new Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.
The midfielder also saw himself banished from Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting lineups after a dreadful first-half display in September’s North London derby.
Newcastle will look to strengthen in January with Football Insider revealing on 11 November that the Toon are already making plans to bring three new players to the club.
One of those will be a midfielder and a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Alli is one of the players listed for that position by the club.

McAvennie claims a change of scenery may serve Alli well and insisted Newcastle could be the perfect destination.
“I think Dele Alli would be the ideal signing for Newcastle,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If he went there, there would be nowhere to hide. He would play every game and maybe that pressure would help him find his form.
“He’s not played a minute under Conte so maybe he’s not convinced by him yet.
“Newcastle have this money to spend. Alli might be on his way out.
“If they want Premier League quality players, look no further. He’s brilliant on his day.
“Eddie Howe might have issues with his attitude. But if you can solve those issues, you have one hell of a player on your hands.
“I can see that happening if Alli doesn’t work his way back in at Spurs, which is entirely possible.”
Alli has so far failed to replicate his form from the 2016-17 season.
Over that campaign, he registered 22 goals and 13 assists in 50 total outings.
