Newcastle expect to tie up the signing of youngster Kenedy from Chelsea this week, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have claimed on their website that the Magpies believe they are close to bringing in the 21-year-old Brazilian flyer, but that they will have to wait before finding out if they can strike a loan deal for striker Michy Batshuayi.
It is said that manager Rafa Benitez wants both a goalkeeper and a striker before the transfer window closes in 11 days time.
However, it is detailed that Chelsea will have to pay part of the Belgian’s wages as well as signing a replacement for Batshuayi if they are to allow him to leave.
Kenedy, meanwhile will have been targeted by Newcastle following the injury to left-back Paul Dummett in the season opener against Tottenham and Benitez will be eager to get someone to replace the injured academy graduate.
Football Insider verdict:
Kenedy can prove a success at Newcastle, but Batshuayi would be the one that fans cheer about. The Belgian has struggled to make a name for himself at Chelsea, falling behind Diego Costa in his debut campaign before now being overshadowed by Alvaro Morata. However, players with far better reputations have failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, but a move to a club like Newcastle could prove that Batshuayi does have what it takes to play in England’s highest division. Meanwhile, Kenedy is an essential signing for Newcastle given Dummett’s injury and they must ensure they get his signature sealed sooner rather than later.
