Spanish striker wanted by Newcastle makes emphatic decision - report
By Harvey Byrne
Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has emphatically “turned down” Newcastle and is set to rejoin Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed on their website that the 28-year-old Spaniard will make his return to Deportivo on loan with a fixed agreement of £10million next summer.
Rafa Benitez’ Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for the experienced forward throughout the summer, but the north east giants brought in Joselu from Stoke earlier in the week, signifying that they may have given up hope of signing Perez from the Premier League giant’s.
Perez has endured a difficult year in England after completing a £17million move to Arsenal from Deportivo last summer.
In his only campaign for the Gunners he scored just seven goals in 21 appearances in all competitions, including just one strike in 11 Premier League outings.

He will now be keen to regain his form with the La Liga club.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle could find that they regret missing out on Perez as despite struggling at Arsenal he showed his goal scoring talents the season before at Deportivo, where he bagged a very fine 19 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions. The Magpies do boast the already impressive Dwight Gayle in their striking ranks, but someone else wouldn’t do the club any harm and Perez certainly boasts more pedigree than Joselu. Therefore, this could end up being a missed opportunity for Magpies on their return to the Premier League.
