The attacker was fresh off helping Celtic win a superb domestic treble last season and they did so by going unbeaten throughout.
He made 38 appearances across all competitions for the Bhoys, scoring 18 goals and supplying 15 assists in return.
Griffiths has proven to be a prolific goalscoring during his time with the Scottish champions and has 85 goals in 144 club appearances.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez does need to bolster his squad ahead of next year and should potentially look elsewhere for a transfer target. Celtic ace Griffiths has proven he can be prolific in front of goal in the Scottish league and also produced some magic for his national side recently. The 26-year-old is a hard working player that presses from the front and £6million seems like a very good price for him. However, Griffiths has never played in the Premier League before and only played in League One during his time in English football with Wolves. It would be a. huge step up to expect the forward to make an immediate impact in the Premier League and Newcastle may be better served looking elsewhere for a proven player.
