Newcastle United fans have blasted Harvey Barnes after he missed two big chances to win their game against Brighton on Saturday (11 May).

The England international came off the bench in the second half and put in a less-than-impressive performance for the Magpies.

The biggest chance saw Anthony Gordon lay a ball off to the 26-year-old inside the box, but he sent his effort well over the bar.

Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw after Sean Longstaff's equaliser cancelled out Joel Veltman's opener for the Seagulls.

But it could have all been different for Eddie Howe's side if Barnes had shown more composure as their chances of securing European football for next season suffered a blow at St James' Park.

Newcastle fans were left furious by Barnes's contribution to the game, with one suggesting it was a "shocking miss" by the winger.
