'Utter rubbish', 'Waste of space' - Newcastle fans rage over midfielder's display v Burnley
By Russell Edge
Newcastle United fans have turned to social media to voice their anger at the performance of midfielder Mo Diame during their 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Monday.
The 30-year-old was a surprise name in the starting line up, with regular defensive midfielder Isaac Hayden dropping to the bench and Spanish star Mikel Merino ruled out completely due to a back injury.
It was the Senegalese midfielder’s first league start of the season, having made six substitute appearances so far this season, but the Toon Army were less than impressed with what they saw in the narrow loss and took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Diabolical effort going forward so far we have been toothless up top.

Hopefully the Merino injury is minor, Diame is not having a good day. Guess he got the nod over Hayden because of his physicality? #NUFC
