Newcastle fans react on Twitter after attacking duo swap Premier League for second-tier
By Amir Mir
Newcastle supporters on Twitter were overjoyed to hear the news that Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie has signed for the club for a fee of £12million.
Rafa Bentiez’s side captured their second signing of the day after confirming earlier on Friday that Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle has moved to St James’ Park on a five-year deal for £9m.
Ritchie makes a shock move down to the Championship, despite Bournemouth securing safety last season and the Scottish international being named the clubs player of the year for the 2015-16 season.
This has left the Toon Army pleased with the clubs work, with some praising the highly criticised owner Mike Ashley for putting his hands into his pockets once again.
The north east club spent over £50million last summer under former manager Steve McClaren, but despite the heavy spending the club could not avoid relegation into the second tier of English football.

After the sacking of the former England boss in March, former Real Madrid coach, Bentiez was given the task to steer the club to safety but it resulted in the clubs inevitable relegation.
Despite losing key-man, Andros Townsend to Premier League club Crystal Palace for £13million, the St James’ Park faithful were pleased with the attacking partnerships the club is beginning to build.
Here are some of their reactions on Twitter:
