Newcastle fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter after it was reported the club are interested in signing Callum Wilson in the January transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle’s interest in the striker has been piqued as he was not used in Bournemouth’s last two Premier League fixtures.
The 24-year-old was left on the bench and didn’t make an appearance in the Cherries’ latest clashes against Swansea and Chelsea which has “alerted” Rafa Benitez to a possible move.
Fans have responded to the news with excitement on social media and they hope if the striker joins the club, he will help them win the Championship title.
Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

I'd be delighted if Tom Cleverley and Callum Wilson came in on loan.
The FEWM from the rest of the Championship would be massive.#NUFC

Wilson has always been highly-rated in the Premier League but after suffering a serious knee injury in 2015, he missed the majority of last season.
Since returning, he has netted five goals in the 2016-17 league campaign and has been in good form despite remaining unused in Bournemouth’s latest fixtures.
Eddie Howe has openly voiced his admiration on a number of occasions and says he doesn’t want to lose the player, but Benitez will hope to pry the striker away from the Premier League with the promise of regular first-team football at Newcastle.
Wilson has made 16 appearances for Bournemouth this season and has scored some important goals, included strikes against Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Magpies signed Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth in the summer for £10million.
In other Newcastle news, the club will make a decision on this 24-year-old attacker.
