'Shocking', 'Championship player' - Newcastle fans tear into one player after win v Stoke

Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to tear into Matt Ritchie for his performance in the 1-0 win against Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium on New Year’s Day.
Ritchie, 28, has been widely criticised by the Toon Army all season and it appears he did little to improve that opinion from the stands with a lacklustre outing against Mark Hughes’ side.
The Scotland international has been a mainstay of the Newcastle side this season, with manager Rafa Benitez seeming to favour him to play week in, week out.
The ex-Bournemouth winger has made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Magpies, failing to score but supplying six assists in the process.
He has not really made much of an impact in a game since the 2-2 draw with West Brom in November when he supplied two assists, one of which was by forcing an own goal.
Newcastle fans really didn’t think that Ritchie was anywhere near good enough against Stoke though, with one angry supporter saying that the Scotland attacker is a “Championship player”.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Ritchie signed for Newcastle from Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 and helped the Tyneside club win the Championship title last season.
It remains to be seen whether or not Benitez will try to improve on his squad this month now the transfer window is open, however that may all hinge on a takeover.
In other Newcastle United news, Tottenham are joint favourites to sign this Magpies first-team star this month.
