Newcastle: Jarrod Bowen emerges as ‘ideal’ replacement as forward expected to leave
Newcastle United are preparing to lose forward players this summer and are eyeing Jarrod Bowen as a replacement, sources have told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old’s future at West Ham is uncertain as they remain in a relegation battle going into their final two games of the Premier League season.
Eddie Howe’s side are among a number of clubs keeping a close eye on the situation and are prepared to swoop should the Hammers suffer relegation.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Bowen is seen as the “ideal” target to replace some of their potential departures.
This comes ahead of what is expected to be a busy transfer window for Newcastle after Howe spoke about a “feeling of change” with major sales set to be approved.

Football Insider revealed on 15 May that Newcastle are plotting a move for Bowen as the West Ham star is expected to be “in demand” when the window opens.
Both Liverpool and Everton are also believed to be tracking the winger’s situation, and while it is uncertain whether he will leave West Ham, they are poised to swoop.

Much will depend on whether he is prepared to play in the Championship next season, and as things stand he remains focused on fighting for survival.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “West Ham’s top players will be in high demand if the club are relegated, and Jarrod Bowen will be included in that.
“If he wants to stay in the Premier League, he won’t be short of options. There’s been talk of Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle being interested in him.
“If Newcastle were to lose a couple of attacking players, which has been suggested in the summer transfer window, Bowen could be an ideal replacement for them.
“He’s Premier League proven, he’s a player who obviously could have an impact for Newcastle as well, he can score goals and assist goals.
“He has proven that with eight goals and ten assists in the Premier League this season for West Ham.”
Which forwards could leave Newcastle this summer?
Newcastle’s interest in Bowen comes as they prepare for a busy transfer window, with a number of their attacking players’ futures currently up in the air.
The likes of Jacob Murphy and Anthony Elanga have endured frustrating seasons, while Howe recently confessed Anthony Gordon is likely to move on.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 16 May that Bayern Munich are preparing an offer for Gordon believed to be worth around £65million.
Newcastle are expected to hold out for an extra £10million, having made their asking price clear, although the German giants hope to agree a lower fee.
After Howe’s confession, there is a growing expectation among sources that a deal will get over the line, and that could force Newcastle to bring in a replacement.
