Newcastle know what they must do to sign Daichi Kamada as Crystal Palace star continues to impress
Newcastle United can get a head start in the race to sign Daichi Kamada this summer by appointing Oliver Glasner.
The 29-year-old is due to become a free agent in the coming weeks and is looking to go out on a high at Selhurst Park.
Kamada scored and assisted as Crystal Palace beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 in Poland on Thursday to take a step towards the Conference League final.
Glasner is also due to leave at the end of his contract this summer, with the Magpies among the clubs interested in appointing him.
Newcastle transfer chiefs are set to look for market opportunities in the window amid financial constraints, and there are few better cut-price deals available than Kamada.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Newcastle have shortlisted Glasner as a potential replacement for Eddie Howe this summer.
The Englishman is under significant pressure at St James’ Park after overseeing five consecutive defeats and collapse in the Premier League this season.

Glasner’s transformation of Palace in his two years at Selhurst Park looks set to bring about a second trophy this month, although his side still need to confirm their place in the final in next week’s second leg.
Given Newcastle’s financial constraints this summer, the Austrian’s work with a limited budget for the Eagles will not have gone unnoticed.
Should they appoint him, Kamada would almost certainly be set to join him at St James’ Park. The midfielder followed Glasner to the Premier League after they had developed a relationship at Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 29-year-old was excellent on Thursday, controlling his half-volley brilliantly to put Palace back in front in the second half before providing the assist for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s late goal.
The Japan international got stuck in, too, making three tackles, five recoveries and winning all but one of the duels he contested.
What Kamada has said about his future
It is not a very well-kept secret that Kamada is waiting to see where Glasner hangs his coat before deciding on his next move.
It is easy to see why. The Austrian gets the best out of the Japan international, who thrives under his leadership.
After a slow start, Kamada’s ability has been on full show this season and would be a benefit to any Premier League side going forward.
“I really don’t know about my future and I haven’t decided anything yet,” he said earlier this month. “I really want to know about my future, but I am just focused on every single Palace game. So, I don’t know.”
But should Glasner be appointed at Newcastle, it would be far from a surprise to see Kamada follow him.
