Newcastle left sweating over potentially huge blow, update imminent
By Russell Edge
Newcastle United have been left sweating over the fitness of central defender and club captain Jamaal Lascelles after he left St James’ Park using crutches and wearing a protective boot.
The Chronicle report on their website that the 23-year-old was taking medical precautions on his right leg after being forced off 10 minutes after half time in their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, with defensive counterpart Ciaran Clark taking his place.
Meanwhile Lascelles himself said via his personal Twitter account that he would be undergoing scans on Monday which is set to provide an imminent update on the injury, stating that he is “hopeful” the setback is not as bad as first feared.
Disappointing result today.. gutted I had to come off the pitch, scan Monday so hopefully not too bad… thanks for the support

Any absence would be a huge blow to the club, with the former Nottingham Forest man has appeared in every one of the club’s 11 league matches this season, despite having started the campaign on the bench.
The defender even has two goals to his name as he has helped the Magpies to 11th place, although they have suffered two successive defeats.

He now has two weeks to try and recover from his injury, with the international break coming up, before Newcastle travel to the north west to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on the 17th of November.
Since joining from Forest Lascelles has 79 appearances for the club, 29 of which have come in the top flight, and he was named club captain by Rafael Benitez for their single season in the Championship following relegation.
In other Newcastle United news, Paul Ince has made a shock prediction about the Magpies, which now looks more likely after defeat to Bournemouth.
