Newcastle make Yoane Wissa transfer decision as they make room for his replacement

Newcastle United are set to make Yoane Wissa available for transfer ahead of their other strikers following Will Osula’s fine form towards the end of the campaign.

Wissa had to wait until December to make his debut for Newcastle after suffering numerous setbacks in his recovery from a knee injury.

He has since found the back of the net on just three occasions and is now behind young striker Osula in the pecking order for places under Eddie Howe.

Osula has scored five goals in his last six games, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, his form has sealed Wissa’s future as Newcastle plan to let him leave this summer.

Newcastle’s transfer plans are not set to include Osula, with Wissa now likely to be sold ahead of him following such a disappointing maiden campaign.

Newcastle want to sell Yoane Wissa as Will Osula proves he is ready

Wissa last scored for Newcastle against PSV on 21 January, and has not started any of their last 18 games in all competitions.

Recent reports have stated that Nick Woltemade is set to stay at St James’ Park this summer, with Wissa now moving closer to an exit as Osula impresses.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “(There are) probably other players that Newcastle would be open to letting leave (over Osula)…such as the likes of Yoane Wissa.

“Osula has really worked his way into Newcastle’s plans, and they are very happy with his progress.”

Newcastle still in with a chance of Dusan Vlahovic signing without UCL football

Howe’s side head into their final day clash against Fulham on Sunday with an outside chance of qualifying for the Conference League.

Their Champions League hopes faded months ago, but owners PIF remain keen to back their manager in the summer window with numerous ambitious signings.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle remain in the race for Juve striker Vlahovic as they line up a signing to compete with Osula and Woltemade.

The Magpies will have to accelerate their plans to land his services soon, however, with Juventus trying to persuade him to sign a new contract despite his injury-hit 2025-26 campaign.
