Newcastle on verge of sealing triple boost - could practically be confirmed in three weeks

COMMENT

Ask a Newcastle United fan what the club’s priority must be right now and you might get a handful of different answers.

Most would say securing Premier League safety is firmly at the top of the list, while a new deal for manager Rafael Benitez would likely be a close second.

Progressing in takeover negotiations and signing some new talent may also feature, but almost everything that fans want to see hinges on the club remaining in the top flight.

Luckily for the Magpies, they are hypothetically on the verge of sealing their place in the Premier League, and would likely secure it with two wins from their final eight games, pushing their points tally to 38 points.

If the club were to secure victory in their next two games in the upcoming three weeks, against Huddersfield and Leicester City, then there would be some much needed breathing room between them and the bottom three, and attentions could then turn to other issues.

Securing safety has already been confirmed to be integral to the club securing a permanent deal for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, while the Independent have claimed that Benitez himself would not be willing to commit to a new contract until the Magpies nailed their place in the top flight.

If that was not enough, then the proposed takeover of Newcastle, which fell through during the winter, is still on the table and will likely be revisited if and when the club confirm they will be a Premier League side next season.

The club are on the verge of ensuring their place among the big boys next season, and could be handed a massive triple boost as early as three weeks away.
