Newcastle United are willing to sell Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic in January as they prepare to battle for the services of Danny Ings, according to a report.
The Newcastle Chronicle reports that the Magpies want to cash in on both Mbemba and Mitrovic as Rafa Benitez continues to wait to find out his budget for the January window.
The same reports states that Newcastle United are interested in Danny Ings but face a lot of competition for him from other Premier League Clubs.
The report also names Islam Slimani and Cenk Tosun as players the Magpies would consider signing.
Mitrovic being made available has reportedly seen Newcastle United “inundated” with enquires about the striker, mostly loan ones though, but there’s no word about whether any club has approached them regarding Mbemba.
An unnamed Championship club, Partizan Belgrade, Southampton, Brighton and Crystal Palace have been credited with interest in Mitrovic.
Football Insider Verdict
Mbemba has only featured seven times in the Premier League for the Magpies this season, with the majority of his appearances being made at the start of the campaign. If Rafa Benitez has no desire to play the defender, the club should cash in especially with there being uncertainty about the budget, as Mbemba hasn’t impressed. However, losing Mitrovic could be a critical mistake, as the striker has showcased glimpses of what he could offer the club in his limited appearance this season. The Magpies have identified that they need a striker and they could end up selling Mitrovic and getting no one, which would weaken an already problem position for the side.
In other Newcastle United news, the Magpies are second favourites to seal a January swoop for this lightning quick Premier League forward.
