Newcastle preparing to cash in star to raise funds ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline - report

Newcastle are ready to cash in star forward Dwight Gayle in order to raise funds ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have claimed on their website that the Magpies are looking to build up their transfer budget in order to fund further in comings ahead of the deadline in four days time.
However, in order to raise money they also have to sell assets who will bring in large fees and that includes Gayle, 26, who topped last season’s goal charts with 23 goals in 32 Championship matches.
But, since the club’s promotion back to the Premier League he has remained goalless from two starts and even sat out of the 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday due to a hamstring injury.
Gayle is still contracted to Newcastle until 2021, but he has seemingly fallen behind new signing Joselu in the striker pecking order and a move away from St. James’ Park could be the next step in his future.

Football Insider verdict:
To sell Gayle would be crazy for Newcastle at this stage of the window. Yes, the club do have to sell some first team players if they are to raise cash suitable for bringing players of quality in. However, last season’s top scorer in Gayle is certainly not the right player to sale. Goals are invaluable in the Premier League and while the Englishman has remained goalless so far this season he could pop up with some vital efforts to help the north east giants to three points later in the campaign.
