Newcastle United could sign Miguel Almiron replacement soon after source's reveal - pundit

Paul Robinson has backed Newcastle United to make a concrete move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested the 21-year-old would be an upgrade on the likes of Miguel Almiron.

Mudryk has starred for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League this season.

Sources have told Football Insider (15 September) that the Magpies are interested in signing the winger in the new year.

The Ukraine international has four years remaining on his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk.

When asked by Football Insider if Mudryk would be a welcome addition at St. James’ Park, Robinson said: “He looks like a real talent.

“To be putting in performances in the Champions League at his age says a lot.

I’m sure there are a few clubs looking at him now. It is only a matter of time before he leaves Shakthar. They cannot keep rebuffing bids. There will be a figure that they have in mind.

Newcastle would be an attractive proposition. I think they could do with another top winger.

Obviously they have Saint-Maximin but I’m not sure Almiron, [Jacob] Murphy and [Ryan] Fraser are going to get them to where they want to be.

Mudryk is a player for now and the future. Howe is evolving that squad slowly. I think they will continue to develop over the next 12 months.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed an investment from Newcastle United could pay off ‘ten-fold’ as new details emerge.
