Shakhtar Donetsk sensation Mykhaylo Mudryk is open to joining Newcastle United next year, sources have told Football Insider.

The forward, 21, further enhanced his growing reputation on Tuesday night with a wonder strike to help his team to a 1-1 Champions League draw at Celtic.

Newcastle are among the many clubs keeping close tabs on Mudryk and their scouts watched him score his third Champions League goal of this season's group stages in Glasgow.

It is believed Mudryk is keen on potentially heading to a Premier League club next year, but could delay a move until the end of the season if Donetsk reach the Champions League knockout stages.

Brentford had a £26million bid rejected for the forward, and he's also been linked with Arsenal.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe is set to revisit the situation in January as he looks to add another A-list goal threat.

Mudryk is primarily a left-winger but can also play on the right-hand side of the attack as well as through the middle.

He has featured more prominently on the left when playing for Donestk but he has also sometimes been used in the number 10 role.

Mudryk has lit up this season's Champions League with three goals and two assists in five appearances.

He has also scored three times, supplemented by five assists, in six domestic league fixtures.

The attacker also has five Ukraine caps to his name after making his international debut in May.
